How to Read Panasonic Error Codes

Panasonic uses H-prefix codes for indoor unit faults and F-prefix codes for outdoor unit or refrigerant circuit faults. Units with a wired remote controller or display show the code directly. On wireless-remote-only models, press the CHECK button (if available) to display the code. Some Panasonic models require connecting a service tool to retrieve codes — in that case, contact a Panasonic service technician.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Panasonic error code H11 mean?

H11 is a communication error between the indoor and outdoor unit. Try a breaker reset first (off 30 seconds, on, wait 3 minutes). If H11 returns immediately, inspect the communication wire connections at both the indoor and outdoor unit terminal blocks — a loose or reversed wire is the most common cause of persistent H11.

My Panasonic shows F17 — is that serious?

F17 is the freeze protection code — the indoor coil temperature has dropped too low, typically due to restricted airflow from a dirty filter. Clean the filter, turn the unit off for 2 hours to let any ice melt, then restart. F17 should clear. If it returns after cleaning, reduced airflow from a fan motor issue or low refrigerant may be the cause.
